Manager of Student Innovation Programs

Sophie Hosbein is the manager of student innovation programs for the Cal Poly Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE), where she leads the Hatchery and other entrepreneurial programs that help Cal Poly students turn early-stage ideas into startups. She works closely with student founders through workshops, mentorship, programming and one-on-one support as they develop, test and launch their ventures.
Before joining the CIE, Sophie worked at a local venture-backed software startup, gaining experience across customer success, go-to-market strategy and operations while helping the company grow through its early stages. She has spent more than eight years immersed in San Luis Obispo’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and brings that experience directly to the students and founders she supports.
A Cal Poly alumna, Sophie earned her bachelor’s degree in political science.
One of Sophie’s favorite parts of her work is connecting with people and helping founders navigate the ups and downs of building something new.
